When: 9 - 12 July 2014
Where: Phuket (Staying at Holiday Inn express - Patong Beach)
The Deal: 1 for 1 Tiger Airways OCBC promo (Total cost with 20kg checkin bags was $300 for 2 person)
Just came back from a nice relax holiday. This is a summary of the holiday ^^, will write in more details about some of my experience later on.
DAY 1
Raining morning flight from Singapore to Phuket was uneventful (which was nice) we arrived at Phuket International Airport in 1 piece :p
On arrival we pick up our rental car at the airport for the next 4 days! Its a relatively new Nissan Almrra. It cost 2,280 THB for 3 days rental (Consider 3 days car rental as we are returning on the early morning of our 4th day), we book over their website (www.thairentacar.com).
Off we go in our rental car. We manage to find our way to the hotel using saved map on the phone.
View of a beach along the way to Patong
About an hour later, we reach and manage to check in early to a room with pool view, happy! (Click here for the details of our stay)
We had lunch near by the hotel as we wanted to go beach hopping right after lunch.
We realise later on its the tourist low season in July with high winds and waves thus the waters don't look as blue and the empty beaches.
We made a new friend, resident dog at Ao Sane beach cafe.
We decided to hang around at Ao Sane beach and ordered some fried chicken wings.
View from our seat.
We are the only customers at the cafe (really very low season :p)
Next stop, we drive up to Big Buddha. There is no entrance fees to get up to the Big Buddha, but some donation is encourage as the building of this Big Buddha is base on donations.
Its was a long drive up.
The Big Buddha is under construction.
The view at Big Buddha.
On our way down I bought coconut ice-cream. Then off again, next stop is Dinner!
Seafood dinner (a must when on a beach holiday haha) for our 1st night in Phuket. (Click here for more details about our dinner)
We round off the night walking around the infamous Bangle Street at Patong.
Day 2
Island hopping day. Off to Phi Phi Islands for the day. This day trip included transfer pick up from hotel and also lunch (Click here for details of the whole day).
With the strong winds the sea was very choppy, the ride on the speed boat was like all the theme parks water ride roll into 1 hour!
Last stop was a beach where everyone can have some relax time after the very bumpy boat ride.
The no stress RnR day. The day started off with a slow n relax breakfast, then we went off for some go-kart fun!
Low tourist season means there is nobody on the tracks. Just the 2 of us :p
After go-kart we went back in to the hotel to search of lunch, we decided to try some street food across our hotel.
Simple lunch from the streets then continue the RnR.
Then off to Patong Beach to relax.
Dinner is at a hillside eatery call Poo (recommended on Trip Advisor).
(Address: 2/106 Soi Kuan Yang, Prabaramee Rd., Patong Beach)
Its pitched on the side of a steep slope since its very dark along the road up, we decided to park at the foot of the slope and walk up. The view is not too bad, worth the climb up.
On arrival, there was just 1 group of customers having diner. Another quiet low season dinner.
Again we over ordered hahaha. Food was not bad, worth the trip here.
Barbecued Prawn 150B Tom Yam 120B Lay Tong fried rice 90B Thai Salad 120B Thai Omelet stuffed with fried noodles 100B
Consider cheap around Patong tourist area!
Day 4
Early morning flight back home, so it is just breakfast and off we go.
Say bye bye to our rental car (Sad)
Verdict: We will be back again! Its was a relax and wonderful holiday, next time we will visit during high season when the seas are calm and the beaches pack with tourists :p
